Euro-Arab Foundation for Higher Studies (Spain)
The Euro-Arab Foundation for Higher Studies (FUNDEA) is a highly specialized institution that works within the fields of cooperation, training and research. It aims to create a space for dialogue between Arab countries and those of the European Union. Created in 1995 in Granada thanks to the European Parliament agreement adopted in 1984 to create a Euro-Arab University, FUNDEA is ruled by a joint Board of Trustees, chaired by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and further composed of the University of Granada and the regional government of Andalucía (Junta de Andalucía). Center for Security Studies - KEMEA (Greece)
The Center for Security Studies (KEMEA) has been established by the Law 3387/2005 as the Hellenic Ministry’s of Public Order and Citizen Protection think tank on security policies. KEMEA is supervised by the Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection and it is a scientific, consulting and research agency, whose purpose is to conduct theoretical and applied research and to perform studies, particularly at the strategic level, on security policies. Role in ARMOUR: Partner.
“Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy (Romania)
“Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy (MVNIA) is a key component of the Romanian Intelligence Service and approaches the intelligence activity in terms of educating and training future and present intelligence officers, as well as in terms of research and thorough knowledge in the field of intelligence and security. While education in fields supporting intelligence activities – technical, logistics or administrative – can be ensured by other training units, the role of selecting and training future intelligence analysts and case officers goes exclusively to the Academy. Role in ARMOUR: Work Package 3 'Experimental labs' Leader.
SYNYO is an independent research, innovation and technology company, which develops new approaches, innovations and technological solutions for addressing major societal challenges. Against the background of its strong emphasis on social science, SYNYO has developed seminal expertise in the field of security research, with a particular focus on radicalisation, violent extremism and crime. Role in ARMOUR: Partner.
Ministry of Justice (Italy) via Provveditorato Regionale
The Provveditorato Regionale is a peripheral organ of leadership of the Ministry of Justice. It's competent in matters of personnel and its training, organization of services and institutions, detainees, relations with local authorities, the Regions and the national health service. The Provveditorato performs these tasks at the local level according to the plans, guidelines and directives laid out by the Central Department of Penitentiary Administration based in Rome and in order to ensure the uniformity of the actions run within Italian prisons. Investigation and Security are also important fields of action. The Office for Triveneto is Lead Partner and Consortium Partner of several European projects. Role in ARMOUR: Partner.
Agenfor International Foundation (Italy)
Agenfor International, created in 2016 as an independent branch from the long stablished Agenfor Group, is the International member of non-for profit network Agenfor Group, specialized in participative security. Main office is in Milano (Italy), with branches in Padova, Lugano (Switzerland), Tripoli (Libya) and al-Qamashly (Syria). Specific sectors of interests are security and human rights. Role in ARMOUR: Work Package 2 'Mapping challenges, needs, innovative solutions required in the process of prevention and de-radicalization' Leader.
LIBRe Foundation gathers people with wide-range skills and expertise to effectively support long-term activities related to legal consulting in IT, organisational development and project management, including planning and organisation of public events, trainings, and communication strategies in specific areas of applied research. The Foundation specialises in digitization and integration of emerging and converging technologies, information security and personal data protection in different areas of application. Role in ARMOUR: WP6 'Communication, dissemination and leverage' Leader.
University of Malta (Malta) via the Department of Information Policy and Governance
The Department of Information Policy and Governance (IPG) at the University of Malta (Malta) originally focussed on legal implications and applications of information technology but has since widened its interests to include most facets of the flow of information within society and the resultant impact on security and the distribution of power in society together with Internet Governance and evidence-based, information-related policy making within developed states as well as in emerging economies and indigenous societies. Role in ARMOUR: Work Package 5 ‘Evaluation, testing and validation of design’ Leader.
University of Groningen (Netherlands) via the Security, Technology and e-Privacy Research Group
STeP, the ‘Security, Technology and e-Privacy Research Group’, is an interdisciplinary team of researchers – from early stage researchers to advanced researchers - organised within the Department of Transboundary Legal Studies (TLS) at the University of Groningen (Netherlands). The team covers many areas of information policy & technology law including privacy, data protection, security sciences, surveillance, cybercrime, self-regulation and health informatics. Role in ARMOUR: Work Package 4 ‘Integrating best practices and training’ Leader.
